The Quiet Wind Chime

The wind has been crazy wild here in Surprise, AZ the past 24 hours. I thought we were having a tornado last night, but didn’t think that really happened in Arizona.  Guess it’s just when a cold front comes in and meets the desert heat.  Either way, it’s a beautiful thing to listen to and watch from my new little “Home away from Home” rental home where I will vacation for a few months while Hubby and I take a little break from all the recent changes you have all been a part of.  The thing that fascinated me was the simple wind chime hanging outside the kitchen window. It never got any louder during the crazy wind last night and this morning, it only gets quiet when the air is still.

What a great lesson in life.  What if we stayed quiet, kept our thoughts and opinions to ourselves even when things are whirling around us?  What if we were more like a quiet wind chime.  Just be still and mindful even during chaotic times, always using a soft, lilting tone with our family, friends and strangers around us.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you mothers out there.  Be good to yourself and sit down in a quiet place, listen to the wind chimes, listen to a song of inspiration and have a cup of warm tea.

Be a quiet wind chime today!

Rejoice!

  1. Thank you for sharing your blog with me. It is very nice. I am on a new path myself and it was very nice to have you reach out to me at church yesterday. I was baptized last May in Aurora, CO where I had been living for the last 6 years. After 3 major surgeries in 2013, a split from my partner of 6 years and feeling alone I started a new relationship with Christ and moved back to AZ to be closer to my family and step children. I have a crazy job and work tons of hours, but would love to get together some time and talk. I hope you are having a nice Mother’s Day and I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
